SARAH SIMON

Sarah Simon (1977) is an American Artist born in Queens, New York. She previously worked as a Scuba Instructor and an Attorney. Her journey as a Street Photographer began as existential therapy and rebellion to reclaim her point of view, and it has evolved into a passion for creating soulful and experimental visual imagery.

Sarah has spent the last 9 years healing from CPTSD, Lyme Disease and caring for her children as they rehabilitate from a rare autoimmune encephalitis. The healing process and personal inner ‘deep dives’ she has practiced strongly affect Sarah’s visual perspective. She shoots while wandering the streets with a compact camera, mostly in and around New York City. Her images are sometimes abstract, other times joyfully humanistic. They are always a love letter to the city and the locations she travels to. Her influences include the artists Daido Moriyama, Aldous Huxley, and Hafiz.

Sarah has been published in The Smart View, The Avenue, My Eye Got Lazy, and The Street Badass zine.

Sarah Simon is currently a member of the Street Badass Collective, and co-curator of the Ricoh GR Women community as well as a GR camera ambassador for Ricoh North America.
